WHY WE PLAY HOCKEY!

Sports Corner

By Gordie Who

Why do we play ice hockey?

If you are Canadian, it is as natural as walking. But the game has taken on an international appeal in northern hemisphere countries. At the Ice Oasis, you could find yourself playing with or against a Finn, a Russian, a Czech, a German or even Jason Molenda from Minnesota.

There are so many other sports to choose from but we picked hockey and here’s why.

Other outdoor winter sports we could have played:

Snowball Juggling

Ice Climbing

Human Toss on Skates

Figure Skating

Ski Jumping

Winter Parachute Landing

Bucket Tobogganing

Or we could have participated in winter indoor sports like:

Bowling

Basketball

Fencing

Greco Wrestling

Baby Wrestling

Pro Wrestling

Sumo Wrestling

Martial Arts Gymnastics

Executive Hair Pulling

When the weather gets nicer and everyone wants to be outdoors, we want to play hockey at IOHA!

Who in their right mind would even think of being involved in one of these sports:

Golf

Archery

Long Jump?

Parachuting

Recreation Vehicle Racing

Roller Blading

Cycling

Frisbee Catching

Stair Sliding

Trolley Riding

Sumo Racing

Skateboarding

Lawn Mow Racing

And we certainly want to stay away from these water sports:

Synchronized Swimming

Rowing

Cow Walking

But there are six contests that we could do which wouldn’t take away from our ice time:

Winkey Holding

Wife Carry

Bridal Gymnastics

Beard and Moustache Referee

Cheerleading

Flatulence Contest

So we all know why we play hockey. It’s the speed and the danger!

And when no one is around at 3a.m. we can go out and play naked hockey!!!!
