Muthig hasn’t decided whether to return to OTTERS
By Richard Cranium
REDWOOD CITY (AP)—IOAH Friday night Otter defenseman Tom Muthig hasn’t decided yet whether to return to the team this season or retire.
Team spokesperson Jules Nolet said Saturday that Muthig met with general manager Aden Nolet. He said Muthig wasn’t ready to make a decision about his future.
Nolet said (son) Nolet told Muthig to take the time he needs and he didn’t expect a decision very soon.
Earlier last week, Muthig took a header into the boards while playing for his Tuesday night team and didn’t show up or call for his Otter team’s Friday night against the Falcons which they won 7-2. When called that night Muthig refused to join the team for a round of drinks.
It is unclear if Muthig played this past Tuesday since the IOAH web cam site http://iceoasis.com/rink/webcam.html was 1. broken 2. frozen 3. used a clock only or 4. had some psychedelic image on it.
You may remember Tom Muthig from the “rolling puck” goal that he scored during the IOAH Memorial Day tournament. This was after he put a nifty wrist shot past his own goalie Ed McKnight
Muthig will turn 61 very soon if he isn’t already. He’s eligible to become an unrestricted free agent on July 1. GM Nolet believes if he was to trade Muthig’s rights to another team he might only receive a pail of pucks and two broken sticks in return.
Muthig is pictured here when he was around 32 years of age.
